Caricatures of the Band

One of our cornet players is a talented caricaturist, and recently produced a number of images to record our road trip down to South Canterbury / North Otago

Our first performance of the weekend, at Waimate Farmers’ Market in South Canterbury.

Saturday afternoon saw us crossing the Waitaki into North Otago, and down past Oamaru to Totara Estate. It was from this historic estate that the first shipment of frozen mutton bound for the UK originated, in 1882.

Our final engagement of the weekend was to perform two sets at the Oamaru Victoria Fete where we joined with members of the Oamaru Garrison Band to entertain the crowds, many of whom were dressed in period costume for the day (as were a number of ladies from the band).
