Ferrymead Heritage Park, 4th February 2024
What promises to be a busy 2024 kicked off for the band at the Heritage Park in Ferrymead. Here we have our principal cornet play, Chris, caught on camera as he prepares to play the solo “Share my Yoke”.
The invitation to play was extended by the masonic lodge which meets in the Heritage Park, who were having an open day. One of our cornet players is a member of the lodge, and also turns his hand to drawing caricatures of some of our events. Here’s his take on this performance:
It was a lovely day for our first performance of the year, and we were grateful for the shade provided by a recently pruned willow tree.
Playing in the Heritage Park meant that from time to time during our performance we had to compete with the almost 120 year old Christchurch Tram #1 as it rattled past on its journey around the park.
As befitted playing in such a park, one of our band members took the opportunity to bring along a heritage vehicle of his own, here being enjoyed by a couple of our band members.
