Governors Bay Fete, Allandale – 15th October 2023

As the local brass band for the whole of Banks Peninsula we love getting out and about around the bays. We’re fortunate to live in a beautiful part of the world, and our regular engagement at Allandale for the annual spring fete is an especially pleasing place for us to perform in.

Our visit to Governors Bay this year was particularly significant as it marked the first anniversary of the band performing under our very talented Musical Director Victoria van Uden, who first conducted us at the fete in 2022.

In true New Zealand style in the couple of hours we were at the fete we experienced several different seasons. The clouds were gathering as we set up, and just before we began to play the rain arrived. This did not deter us, however, and we made for a large gazebo where we were able to stand in a relatively dry environment and play our first couple of numbers.

Someone somewhere must have enjoyed our performance, though, because about a quarter of an hour into our first set the rain stopped, the sun came out, and we were able to reassemble in the open air. As you can see from the image above the sky quickly cleared, the temperature increased, and the rest of our time was spent in perfect spring weather.
