Governors Bay Fete, Allandale - 20th October 2024

For the band one sure sign that we’re well into spring, and that summer (which means a massive season of Christmas playouts), is on the way is the annual Governors Bay Fete.

We’re very fortunate to be located in a very beautiful part of a very beautiful country, and trips over the Port Hills into Banks Peninsula are especially pleasant. Particularly when the weather is as stunning as it was on Sunday.

A classic Beatles melody - perfect for showing off the natural beauty around the Allandale Domain.

The playout also marked a very special occasion for the band - two years earlier at this very engagement our Musical Director, Victoria van Uden, first took up the baton in front of the band for a performance. After two years with Victoria at the helm the band is in excellent shape with an enthusiastic team.

The band is now entering an exceptionally busy period - between now and Christmas we have 20 appearances to make before we can put away our instruments for a week or two.

And speaking of Christmas, what’s more traditionally Christmas than Morecambe and Wise? Here the band plays the duo’s theme tune “Bring Me Sunshine”, with bass player Mark demonstrating Morecambe and Wise’s famous dance…
