Ferrymead Heritage Park Re-opening Day - 29th September 2024
Sumner Band were proud to be at Ferrymead Heritage Park for their official re-opening day on Sunday 29th September.
The park had been closed over the winter months for maintenance, and Christchurch’s mayor along with a number of other dignitaries were present for a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the occasion.
The band has been practicing at the park for a while and is forging a solid relationship with Ferrymead - a wonderful facility that we’re very lucky to have as part of ‘our patch’.
The band played a couple of sets during the day, and a few of the band members even took a trip atop the double deck tram and managed to play a few tunes while travelling around the park!
The band has two more engagements planned at the park before the end of the year - we’ll be there on the Sunday of Labour Weekend, helping the park to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Canterbury Railway Society, and then back on 1st December for the park’s Christmas Spectacular.
