It’s Christmas!!! - 1st December 2024

Like most brass bands across the world Sumner Silver Band always has a very busy schedule of performances over the Christmas period.

This year is no different with our Christmas activity commencing on 1st December with two performances in a day!

The beautiful Silent Night, played at Heathcote Valley School.

Our red carol books came out for the first time in 2024 at Heathcote Valley School’s Christmas Fete. It was a beautiful warm, sunny December morning and for the several Northern Hemisphere band members playing ‘In the Bleak Midwinter’ only highlighted the difference between Christmas in New Zealand and ‘back home’.

In the afternoon we moved the short distance to play at the Ferrymead Heritage Park’s Christmas Fayre - pleased to play in the shade under the trees in the middle of the park as the temperature climbed further.

The First Noel - Ferrymead Heritage Park

We moved to the Park as our band headquarters earlier this year, becoming the official brass band of the Park from the start of November. It’s lovely to have so many varied venues within our new home where we can perform to patrons of the park.
